LAS VEGAS – World Gymnastics on Tuesday awarded the largest gymnastics event in the world, the World Gymnaestrada, to USA Gymnastics and Las Vegas in 2031. The award was made at a meeting of the World Gymnastics Executive Committee and Council in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

First hosted in 1953 in Amsterdam, the World Gymnaestrada is held every four years and features more than 20,000 athletes from over 50 nations gathering for non-competitive gymnastics performances and activities. The 2031 World Gymnaestrada will mark the first time it is held outside of Europe as the 19th edition of the event takes root in the heart of Las Vegas.

From July 7-13, 2031, eight of Las Vegas’ most prestigious venues, including MGM Grand Garden Arena, T-Mobile Arena, Mandalay Bay Beach, Mystère Theatre, Michael Jackson ONE Theatre, Fremont Street, Westgate Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Convention Center, will see gymnastics performed by people of all ages and abilities from around the world. Emphasizing group performances – some with hundreds of participants – the non-competitive event celebrates the sport and physical movement.

“USA Gymnastics is honored and excited to bring the biggest and most inclusive gymnastics event in the world to Las Vegas,” said USA Gymnastics President and CEO Kyle Albrecht. “Growing and providing increased access to the sport of gymnastics is one of the strategic focuses of our organization – and what better way is there to elevate that mission than hosting the World Gymnaestrada.”

Las Vegas was selected from a field of finalists that included the 2015 World Gymnaestrada host, Helsinki, Finland; and the site of the 2023 World Gymnastics Artistic World Championships, Antwerp, Belgium.

“Las Vegas, in partnership with USA Gymnastics, is deeply honored to host the World Gymnaestrada in 2031, marking the first time this extraordinary event will both leave Europe and be staged in the United States,” said Janis Burke, Chief Sports Officer of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “It is a privilege to welcome the world of gymnastics to Las Vegas, and we are confident our city and partners will deliver an exceptional experience for participants, families and visitors from around the globe.”

The next World Gymnaestrada will be hosted July 11-17, 2027, in Lisbon, Portugal. For more information on the history of the World Gymnaestrada, visit the World Gymnastics website
