LAS VEGAS -- The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) has received two prestigious national awards from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its financial reporting documents reflecting the highest quality.

The LVCVA has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, its attainment representing a significant accomplishment by a government entity and its management. This is the 33rd consecutive year the LVCVA has received the award. The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

In addition, for the 10th consecutive year, the LVCVA was bestowed the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Financial Reporting for the fiscal year 2016 Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR). PAFR encourages and assists state and local governments in extracting information from their CAFR to produce high quality reports designed to be readily accessible to the general public. They then recognize individual governments that are successful in achieving said goal.

“I commend the LVCVA for once again proving the level of professionalism and dedication of its staff,” said Bill Noonan, senior vice president of industry and governmental affairs, Boyd Gaming, and LVCVA board member and chair of the Audit Committee. “To continuously win these distinguished awards is a tremendous accomplishment.”

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C.
