UPDATED: Las Vegas Welcomes the National Finals Rodeo

LAS VEGAS -- ​Sold out for more than 300 consecutive performances, the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo attracts the top 15 contestants in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding to Las Vegas each year. The annual event kicked off Dec. 7 and runs through Dec. 16 and includes an array of fan experiences in addition to the nightly action in the ring at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Known as the richest and most prestigious rodeo in the world, contestants compete for a share of the $10 million purse and the coveted Gold Buckle. In 2016, the event had a total attendance of 168,859 over the 10 days of competition.Qualification is based on the 2017 PRCA World Standings.

Cowboy Christmas, and NFR tradition for 32 years, is a free event in the Las Vegas Convention Center that features nearly 350 exhibitors from across the United States, as well as interactive experiences for rodeo fans. Open daily, Cowboy Christmas encompasses more than 440,000 square feet of show floor and showcases unique products, including custom-made jewelry, western wear, boots and spurs, furniture, original art, handmade crafts and home goods. Attendees will also find the best source for the official Wrangler NFR and PRCA merchandise. Located within Cowboy Christmas, fans can enjoy a number of interactive experiences. Elements that will remain in place in 2017 include Rodeo Live presented by RODEOHOUSTON, Coors Rodeo Saloon, Rodeo Way exhibits, Wrangler Rodeo Arena, NFR Social Lounge, Great Wall of Rodeo presented by Calgary Stampede and additional features. For the second consecutive year, the Junior NFR presented by YETI will be held in Las Vegas. There will be qualifiers and finals in eight events (with various age groups per event): bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, breakaway, team roping, tie-down Roping and barrel racing.
