LAS VEGAS -- The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas continues its “Farewell Tour” as it begins the demolition of the Hard Rock Cafe. The demolition is just the beginning of the property’s transformation to Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. At a press conference on Monday, November 18, 2019, Richard "Boz" Bosworth, President and Chief Executive Officer of JC Hospitality LLC, owner of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, spoke to the media about history of the Hard Rock Cafe and led off the beginning of the demolition at the front doors.
The Hard Rock Cafe located on the corner of Paradise Rd. and Harmon Ave. opened in 1990 and closed on Dec. 31, 2016. The 82-foot tall iconic neon sign, inspired by Pete Townshend’s No. 9 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, which stood in front of the Hard Rock Cafe, is now housed at The Neon Museum. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas will close on Feb. 3, 2020 to begin the transformation to Virgin Hotels Las Vegas which is slated to open in the fall of 2020.
