On the first anniversary of the 1 October tragedy, United Blood Services hosted a memorial blood drive at the Las Vegas Convention Center to honor those lost, injured and affected by the tragedy. United Blood Services and UMC teamed up in remembrance of the victims and survivors of the shooting, to honor the courageous efforts of first responders at the scene, and to help ensure Las Vegas has blood already on the shelves when it’s needed most. Local celebrities were on hand at the blood drive including Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, U.S. Senator Dean Heller, and members of the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights. Sue Thew, Public Relations Spokesperson for Vitalant (a consortium of 10 blood center brands including United Blood Services) talked about how the blood drive came together. October 1, 2018.
